(RTI) will partner this month with a leading North American energy producer at their Midwestern petroleum facility to implement industry best practices to reduce flaring and VOC emissions in support of ESG goals. Project goals include utilizing a closed drain header system to restrict oil from being drained or vented into the atmosphere, reduced flaring, and increased safety in the environment. Additional ESG benefits expected include the reduction of nitrogen, freshwater usage, energy consumption, carbon release, CO2, and greenhouse gas emissions. RTI’s comprehensive shutdown approach uses their patented Vaporganic® chemical cleaning process and chemistries. This unique application utilizes QuikTurn® chemistry, a patented reactor clean using QTRX2, and a pyrophoric treatment utilizing Quench®. “We are eager to partner with this energy producer on this turnaround and applaud their efforts to eliminate the traditional shutdown, decontamination and cleaning steps,” Landon Wagter, Senior Director of Business at RTI, said. “For clients looking to improve their ESG performance, RTI is a committed partner of excellence because we operate out of a core belief that sustainable practices are essential for thriving communities.” As energy companies pivot from being known as oil companies producing resources to integrated energy companies delivering solutions for customers, many are aspiring to become net zero by 2050 or sooner.
